Why a WordPress Based Website is a Social Media Trend for 2011
The world of social media is witnessing a lot of changes in the year 2011 including location-based marketing, review websites, text campaigns, plugins etc. If you are planning your new social media strategy, it is important to make sure that you leverage all of these upcoming trends. Here, we are going to discuss one very vital social media trend for 2011 – WordPress-based websites. Yes, a WordPress-based website is one of the hottest social media trends this year.
But the point is why a WordPress-based website is a social media trend businesses are leveraging more and more. Before you actually plan to move your website or blog to a WordPress (an open source publishing application) platform, let us have a look at some of the biggest benefits that having a WordPress-implemented website can bring you.
One of the biggest benefits of using a WordPress-based website is that it offers you an extensive list of interactive features which are in tune with most user requirements. A website with WordPress implementation is fast becoming the latest social media trend, as it offers you thousands of plugins and themes that enhance the overall functionality of a website.
Installing WordPress on your website or blog is quite easy. Even if you are a non-techie, you’ll be able to install this publishing application in a few clicks. If you don’t want to do it yourself, your host will do it for you free of cost (most probably).
Save Plenty of Time
Whether it is about the launch of a new product, service or brand, businesses are trying to get it all online as quickly as possible. One big reason behind a WordPress-based website being a hot social media trend for 2011 is that it saves you plenty of time. You can implement the WordPress platform very quickly. Even if you are an average user, one hour should be enough to understand the everyday process and the management of this platform.
Saves You Money
If you are planning to launch a business website or blog, implementing WordPress can save you thousands of dollars that you might otherwise spend while working with an expensive web design company.
Easy Updation (doesn’t require coding knowledge)
That a WordPress-based website is quite easy to update also makes it a perfect option to go for if you want to start a new website or blog. You don’t even need to have a strong knowledge of HTML coding to get the content on your website updated. That means you’ll no more be dependent on web designers when you quickly want to update the site content.
Little to No-Cost SEO Plugins
Having a WordPress-based website is really a good idea to maximize SEO benefits. There are excellent plugins that you can use to incorporate the search engine optimization strategy into your website or blog. The best part is that these plugins are available to you at little or no cost.
More Time to Focus on Design & Content
Since a website with WordPress implementation saves you plenty of time on coding, you can use this time to concentrate more on the design and content of your website. A great benefit indeed!
Google is in Love with a WordPress-based Website!
Now this is an industry secret! Google loves WordPress-based websites. In fact, WordPress is Googlebot’s favorite food. So, all you need to do to achieve higher rankings in Google is update your website or blog with regular fresh content.

Yes Obaidul , you are absolutely right . WordPress is the new trend for social media . Maximum website owners are using WordPress as their publishing platform . Some people are using it as CMS too .It is too user friendly.WordPress users have lots of free plugins and the plugins are also easy to install . Why won't people use WordPress if they save money and time at a time? Previously we needed to know lots of critical codes to inter-act with our readers and now we are just blessed with WordPress and we really don't need to know the critical codes .Plugins are ready to serve us .We have now buddypress working compactly with WordPress . So , people have wide chances to create their own communities, groups , members and so on. However , I am fully agree with you and loving your insights .Thanks a lot for sharing all these things here. My recent post New WordPress Chat Plugin Released in 2011
When I first started to fly, and seen some other pilots at our field doing loops etc. I had no ambition on doing aerobatics. I would just hover around pretending to be a rescue helicopter helping injured victims over a crash site. As weeks passed I started to do stall turns, loops and rolls right along with them. It wasn't long after that, people were bringing helicopters out to the field and having me test fly their helicopters for them. One of my main goals is to represent the United States on the world helicopter team.
i agree, I have recently created a wordpress blog, but I was unaware that there are two "version" :wordpress.com and wordpress.org. After creating a wordpress.com site, and paying for a domain without the "wordpress" in it, I have realised that this version of wordpress does not support plugins. Do you have any advice on what I should do in this situation?

Yes Obaid you are right, googlebot loves wordpress. I recently researched on zoomla and drupal. These are little difficult to use for newbies. Wordpress is easy to install, thousands of free themes available, seo-friendly plugins, etc makes wordpress more popular than other CMS. I have some blogs and personally I recommend wordpress. You have all points are true here.
Thanks for a great post. It reinforces the business my sister and I are starting creating BlogSites (WordPress sites with blogs) for small businesses and then a social media plan. We want to help small businesses create an online presence and brand identity. Our website isn't finished yet but will be soon. I have a personal blog too that I am using to talk about starting our elSue business. You can check out our Facebook Page at http://on.fb.me/e3n0VI. I love you site and content. Keep it coming!
Thanks Dave for stressing the point! To the downside you are talking about, I would just like to say that 'Competition is the best sauce to taste success'.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I think that many business sites are now thinking "times are hard lets get a blog installed to boost SEO and traffic". I think many go with WordPress because it does have a reputation for being the best, the most flexible, the easiest to use and very good for SEO. The only down side is that there will be even more noise in the blogosphere to compete against and a lot could be of low quality and poorly implemented. Autocorrect on Android can turn out terrible sometimes. The first sentence should be : WordPress is definitely the best publishing / cms / blog system
WordPress is decently the publishing / CMS / blog system. I have created my own magazine style theme available for free download at WordPress.org. WordPress is easy to use and very flexible. For seo I recommend the WordPress seo plugin by Yoast..
I'm a huge fan of WP, as I use it for almost all of my sites. I have two questions, however. 1) Although you mention WP as a "Social Media trend" in the heading, you don't mention it anywhere else in the post. I'd love to hear your thoughts specifically about the Social Media trend, and how it's implemented: by average joe consumer, we webmasters/bloggers (aside from the commenting), and social media sites/companies. 2) I'm intrigued by your "Google loves WP" stand. Can you point to some articles, stats, etc. that show this? I'm very interested to hear more, especially since I'm into SEO :) Overall, great post though! Many thanks! :)
The wordpress platform is incredible to use and very flexible..you can do anything with it. "Black Seo Guy "Signing Off" My recent post Why Most Blogs Comment Suicide After 30 Days
Yes, I would highly recommended putting your Wordpress blog on your own domain. This way you will have full control over it. If you don't have the technical knowledge to setup your blog, I can do it for you or you can hire someone from Odesk.com to do it for cheap.
Hello Megan. Which version of WordPress have you installed on your site? The most obvious advice is to upgrade your WordPress version. Also make sure the plugins you want to install are compatible with the WordPress version you are using. If a specific plugin doesn't work with your WordPress site, you can also look for other similar function plugins. Hope that helps. Thanks
Hello Craig. 1) You'll find the 'social media trend' in the 1st, 2nd and 5th para. Other social media trends that will be hot this year include location-based marketing, social gaming, QR codes, review websites etc. Only when we follow the latest social media trends, we can make sure that "we are in the stream". 2) This is my personal experience as well. According to Matt Cutts (Google's spam team head) himself, WordPress takes care of 80-90% of Google's crawling issues.
