I suppose this traffic does give exposure to the rest of the site and hopefully encourages a few RSS subscribers or social bookmarks in the process.Hopefully as time progresses and I learn more about SEO and other factors that help drive traffic. There are so many different models of the business, and financial calculations are a very crowded market.
What Was Your Biggest Traffic Day and How Did You Achieve It?
Darren Rowse from ProBlogger asked the question on his blog, “What was your biggest traffic day and how did you achieve it?” I thought it would be fun for everyone to share their story about their biggest traffic day on their website or blog and how you were able to generate that type of traffic.
What Was My Biggest Traffic Day?
Personally for me, the biggest traffic day was in September of this year, when I received 2,450 unique visitors to my blog.
How Did I achieve It?
I was able to achieve this traffic because of a number of reasons. This was the day I launched my free StayOnSearch 10 Week Internet Marketing Course. In order to get the word out about my new course, I wanted to make sure I had coverage on many of the major industry blogs out there. About 2-3 weeks before the launch, I contacted my network of friends in the industry through Twitter, E-mail and IM to tell them about the new course I was creating. I also sent over a copy of the course for them to review. With the course attachment, I asked them if they would either be able to write a review on the course or allow me to write a guest post promoting it. Before I knew it, I have probably 10-12 people who were happy to help promote it.
Here is a list of some of the coverage I got:
Just by going out and leveraging my social network, I was able to help drive a significant amount of traffic to my site.
On top of the social outreach that I did, I also heavily promoted the launch post on social bookmarking sites like Sphinn.com, StumbleUpon, Buzz, Mixx, and a few others. This also helped to drive a good amount of traffic to the site. Of course on the day I posted about the course, I had lots of Tweets and Facebook shares, which helped it gain even more exposure.
So tell me about your biggest traffic day and what you did to get there? Feel free to link to the post in your comment.

I run a new (and thus small) music blog. I submitted myself into shuffler.fm, which lets people browse music blogs. I was accepted yesterday, and so my highest traffic day was yesterday - I got over triple what I normally get.
My biggest traffic day to my little pf site was from a day where I had 3 guest posts go live in a single day from higher ranking niche websites. Love those guest posts!
My highest amount of daily traffic came from an unexpected spotlight from the radio. The most popular station in town had picked up one of the articles I wrote which turned into an entire morning debate. They then pushed it through all of their social media resources and featured it on the front page of their website. This wasn't near that sheer volume of traffic attained through hitting the first page of Digg, but it was a large number of targeted localized traffic which was extremely helpful for the branding purposes for a business blog.
Mine was very different haha I remember our biggest traffic day on FB happened when Gerald posted his post about How to Put the Kibosh on Content Scrapers & Thieves as part of a blogging contest was organized on our blog! His post got the Digg's first page and crashed the server with almost 5K in two hours :) The good thing is I was there when he called and asked me to check the site to bring it back to life haha! Very nice post Mark, I am sure this post will be filled of of great memories!

My busiest traffic day is Sunday October 3rd on which i received 25k visits ...and i got it becoz my submission reached frontpage on DIGG(Ass Rubbing Center)..
Every big traffic burst I have experienced has come through StumbleUpon. I haven't hit any 50K days... congrats to Rob on that! :) I think what I find more significant than a traffic burst was a RSS subscriber burst. When my site was listed by Social Media Examiner as one of the top 10 blogs, I gained over 300 subscribers within a few days after the post came out. Also, when I wrote my post on Hootsuite for Bloggers, I gained over 300 subscribers, probably the most I've ever gotten in one day that wasn't due to some kind of glitch in the Feedburner system. :)
My biggest traffic day I think I was able to push over 50,000 visitors in one single day by doing a project where I asked about 25 successful entrepreneurs a question and included it into a post. I followed up and asked them to tweet the post with their audience and it ended up creating a viral effect sending thousands of visitors to my site.
